QIs it fraud to accept say $750 from an insurance company to fix a car and then bank the money?

I wondered why many people do this all the time. However, it does not seem right .

If you get a settlement of cash for an accident, then you have the option of fixing the vehicle, or not. If you have a new car you might wish to have it fixed. If not it's your decision. And no, it is not fraud. The Auto Police will not come knocking on your door.
